Summary:
Risk Officers stand at the threshold of a new era in risk management. The challenges brought on by the increasing globalization and sophistication of the financial markets, coupled with the financial crisis have required a major overhaul of the role of the risk manager, and the function of risk management. The Dodd-Frank Act brought major reforms to both the strategic and regulatory infrastructure of U.S. financial markets. The Basel III Accord sets out a framework for global regulatory standards for bank capital adequacy and liquidity. Where do we go from here?
Themes for the meeting include but are not limited to:
- What are the implications for risk professionals given these changes?
- What have we learned post the global financial crisis about managing and mitigating risk?
- Have the recent reforms adequately addressed the systemic issues, or created a host of new issues that have yet to be discovered?
- What are the best practices for implementing a consistent risk methodology across all portfolios, and creating a holistic risk assessment framework that works across the enterprise for Basel II compliance?
- How do institutions develop, enhance, and validate their credit risk assessment processes, collect and analyze data, and model credit risk?
- How have risk analytics changed, and what are the innovative new tools that have emerged?
These are some of the questions to be addressed at Argyle Executive Forum’s Leadership in Risk Management meeting. The meeting will bring together a select list of senior risk professionals from banks, insurance companies, and non-bank financial institutions.
